Trailer Training Chelmsford – From £250 for a trailer training course!

B+E training in Essex from £250, including Chelmsford

If you are from Chelmsford when you contact Get Towing car and trailer training, also called B+E Training, we will coach you to bring your driving standard back up to, if needed

1 day Course £250

2 day Course £450

In Chelmsford, if you are a driver from that area, you will know there are many roundabouts that will ‘catch out’ drivers on a car and trailer training courses, if planned incorrectly… not what you should be doing, of course, on your B+E trailer driving test.

When approaching a roundabout in Chelmsford, during your B+E training, you will need to plan well ahead and look for some unusual lane choices that need to be negotiated with skill and care.

Many drivers avoid roundabouts in the Chelmsford area regarding them as ‘to difficult’ This of course is unnecessary, if you keep calm,  observe ahead and see the information you can enjoy your Chelmsford trailer training journey !

Chelmsford trailer training courses can see you facing three lanes when you approach many roundabouts. Left via the left lane, right via the right lane and ahead, usually from the middle lane, but also the right lane can be used for this. These junctions, of course, are not unique to the Chelmsford area and need to be planned correctly at all times.

The intersection of the A127 and A132 in Basildon has a tricky roundabout. It is important on your B+E training course that you choose your lane correctly here. An easy method to remember during your trailer training course is, if there are two lanes heading towards your chosen direction try to choose the left option, this should make your B+E training course more successful and safer around the Chelmsford area.

Chelmsford also displays roundabouts that have the right lane for going ahead and turning right and left lane for left only. During trailer training course in Chelmsford if you find yourself in a situation where you are in the wrong lane for the intended direction don’t panic, go in the direction you can safely take from that lane, don’t make harsh and late lane changes. This course of action will be fine on a B+E training course, or B+E trailer test, as the examiner will be happy you did the ‘right thing’ rather than just ‘blindly’ following his instructions.

Good luck and safe driving around Chelmsford

Trailer Training near West Thurrock – From only £250 for your trailer course

Another pass for Get Towing trailer licence training, Lynn who met me at Get Towing trailer licence training head quarters in Leigh-on-Sea, in Essex.

price information click TRAILER COURSES

From here we carry out these types of trailer licence training courses and trailer towing tests around the Essex area, especially Chelmsford  and West Thurrock.

She completed a 2 day intensive trailer training driving course and B+E trailer test to gain her trailer test licence on the first attempt with only 2 minor faults… Great result 👍

Her ‘Google’ enquiry was for a ‘trailer test licence’ and ‘B+E Trailer Test near me’.

As always the Examiner asks the candidate to read a number plate ‘out loud’ to him, viewed at a maximum distance of approximately 20.5 metres.

Then asking approximately 5/6 questions about the trailer and the towing vehicle, Lynn answered all her questions correctly, looking under the bonnet and showed good trailer loading and handling knowledge.

The Examiner for the B+E trailer driving test was very impressed with her during a safe trailer test route with an amazing 2 minor faults an excellent result as she didn’t know the West Thurrock, South Ockendon and Aveley areas of Essex that well.

The reversing manoeuvre to pass the trailer licence test seemed quite easy for Lynn on the trailer driving test and was completed with no minor faults after practicing it many times at our reversing site, before the trailer test, really helped 😎

After that Lynn had to carry out the un-couple and re-couple exercise, and inspect the trailer as if it was a new one she hasn’t seen before that was going to be towing on the road.

This scored no minors faults as we had practiced this many times as well.

Her trailer licence should be back to her home address within 2 weeks as the examiner sent it off for her as his address on the drivers licence was the same as where she currently living.

This is not necessary requirement for the trailer test, it can be in an address different to where you currently live as long as it is changed within a two year period.

The roundabouts in that part of West Thurrock in Essex can be tricky, but Lynn coped well on his trailer training course with the difficult junctions around the parts of Basildon in Essex that we drove around to help her familiarise herself, in readiness for the trailer test.

Basildon and West Thurrock can be particularly challenging if you are not used to the layout of it’s, sometimes awkward, multiple lane approach roundabouts.

We practiced these types of junctions a lot as it is essential for the trailer test candidates to be reading the road signs correctly, to drive the roundabouts successfully, and maintain trailer test standard.

Basildon and West Thurrock have some difficult roundabouts especially the one under the M25 at junction 30/31!!

These trailer training courses and trailer licence tests are carried out all over the Essex area at locations including;

Basildon, Enfield, Dagenham, Romford, Brentwood, Chelmsford and many more

Well done again Lynn, it’s now easier, safer and legal for you now pulling your horse box  when needed!!

Depending on when you passed your driving licence, you may be required to pass an additional test to tow certain types of trailers. The law changed on 1st January 1997, below is a rough guide to driving licence categories and dates. For more detailed information, please refer to the UK Government’s towing guide. Government Towing Guidelines

I passed my test before 1st January 1997

If you passed your driving test before January 1st 1997 your licence will probably have Category E. This allows you to drive a vehicle and trailer with a combined weight of 8.25 tonnes, the Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM).

I passed my test after 1st January 1997

If you passed your driving test after 1st January 1997, your licence will allow you drive a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes towing a of up to 750kg. Or a vehile and trailer up to 3.5 tonnes, as long as the trailer does not exceed the kerb (unladen) weight of the vehicle.

Are you Legal to tow?

If you passed your car test before 1997 you’re generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8.25 tonnes maximum authorised mass (M.A.M.)

If you passed your car test later than the 1st January 1997 you’re limited to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes M.A.M. towing a trailer up to 750 kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes M.A.M. providing the M.A.M. of the trailer doesn’t exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle.

You will need to pass an additional trailer driving test in B+E trailer towing if you wish to tow a caravan or trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits.

To tow a trailer, caravan, horse-box or boat etc over a certain weight you will need to add category E to your car license B, this means another driving test B+E with a laden trailer.

If you passed your test before 1997 you will have category B+E on your license for anyone else have a look on the DirectGov website.

The car and trailer practical driving test

The car and trailer test (B+E) is based on the lorry driving test and lasts in total for approximately 90 minutes.

Please note that  B+E tests are conducted at vocational (bus and lorry) Driving Test Centres we are currently using West Thurrock and Chelmsford trailer Test centres

Your practical driving test will include approximately ten/fifteen minutes of independent driving.

The towing test (B+E) includes:

  • vehicle safety questions, (see below)
  • an off-road reverse manoeuvre
  • uncoupling and coupling of the trailer and driving on the road

This is designed to assess your ability to drive safely while making decisions independently. Your Examiner will either show you a plan or give instructions, (sometimes both)  on which route you should take before starting the independent drive.

Your Instructor / Trainer can accompany you on your Test, (should you require this)

Vehicle safety questions

These are basic safety checks that you should carry out to ensure the vehicle is safe for use. Although some checks may involve opening the bonnet to identify where fluid levels would be checked, you won’t be asked to touch a hot engine or physically check fluid levels. Simply pointing at the correct item and brief explanation should be sufficient

You will be asked five questions, which will be a combination of ‘show me’ and ‘tell me’. A driving fault will be recorded for each incorrect answer to a maximum of four driving faults. If you answer all five questions incorrectly, a serious fault will be recorded.

We can provide you with all the relevant questions

https://www.get-towing.co.uk/test-tips-show-me-and-tell-me-questions-and-answers/

and ensure you are fully prepared for the Trailer Test.

Our car and trailer lessons start with a one day driving courses with Practical Test included for pupils with previous trailer reversing experience and we can offer a two day trailer test courses for less experienced drivers to help you acquire your trailer licence.

Benefits on changing your towing vehicles’ fuel filters

The fuel delivery system on your trailer towing vehicle is an integral part of your vehicle. The fuel filter is a very important component of that fuel delivery system. It makes your vehicle’s fuel delivery system efficient. It also plays an important role in achieving optimal performance of the engine. However, with time, this filter gathers dirt and fails to work well, which can eventually lead to failure of the vehicle. Thus, it’s vital to replace the filter to ensure optimal efficiency of the engine.

Boosts Engine Power to tow the trailer easier

The fuel filter makes sure that clean fuel enters the engine and it enables the fuel delivery system to source the ideal quantity of fuel as required.

This is made possible as the fuel filter is capable of preventing clogging of fuel injectors, as a result, boosting the power of the engine.

Increases Engine’s Life for more towing miles!

The fuel filter prevents dust which could otherwise get into the engine and damage the cylinders, pistons and other components that will result in the need of costly repairs and maybe missing your trailer test!!

Replacing these filters prevents such issues and ensures a longer engine life.

Improves Engine Performance

Clean fuel filters are essential for the fine engine performance. The fuel filter prevents dirt and remains from entering the important components of the fuel delivery system. This results in higher performance of the engine. Proper maintenance and replacement of the fuel filter as recommended by the manufacturer can help boost the performance of your vehicle by 2% to 4%. This can be very important when conducting trailer training courses regularly

Better trailer course fuel efficiency

It is essential to change the fuel filter periodically as advised in owner’s manual. Replacing the fuel filter with a new replacement makes sure of removing the contaminants from the fuel and also ensures the right amount of flow of fuel going to the engine. This will guarantee optimal trailer training course efficiency. A blocked fuel filter will lead the engine to get insufficient amount of fuel provided, and leads to reduced optimal performance.

Reduced emissions

Vehicle emissions are harmful. As a clogged fuel filter will lead to insufficient supply of fuel through the fuel injectors, it leads to improper ratio of air-fuel mixture, causing inadequate fuel burning and resulting in harmful emissions. Replacing the fuel filter will lead to an appropriate flow of fuel and air to the engine. This economizes fuel consumption and decreases emissions.

Protects fuel injectors and fuel pumps from contaminants

Clean fuel is essential for optimal performance of the engine of your vehicle. The fuel filter removes dirt, rust, solids and other contaminants from the fuel. When the fuel filter does not function properly, it could lead to harmful effects on fuel pump and the injectors because of the contaminants in the fuel.

Replacing the fuel filter in your vehicle is important because it ensures engine efficiency. When replacing the filter, take professional help if needed. Make sure to replace the filters as recommended by the manufacturer and keep your trailer licence training courses from disaster!!
